Review Summer Dates

Please visit the following URL’s to review the University of Mississippi Academic Calendar for summer, of this year.
*Note that the coming summer is part of the 2021-22 school year.

Note: Chinese Flagship exam dates may differ from the official dates listed in summer sessions 1 & 2 above.

Here is a brief summary of dates that may affect your summer plans:

  • Monday, May 30, 2022 [3pm] : Summer Session 1 Dormitory Move-In Date (More info on UM Summer Housing page )
  • Tuesday, May 31, 2022 [10-12pm] : Chinese Flagship Orientation Session (this will be MANDATORY for CHIN 111 students).
Any other students who can easily attend are welcome. Please let us know you’re coming.
  • Note: Flagship orientation is just an intro to our program; it is entirely separate from your fall orientation session for the university.
  • Location: Room 107 of the Croft Institute).
  • Tuesday, May 31, 2022 [1:30-3pm] : Instruction Begins (note: this is the same day as Flagship Orientation)
  • Sat. & Sun., June 4 & 5 [10am-3:30pm] : weekend make-up days for Monday & Tuesday 6/7 orientation session
  • Mon. & Tues., June 6 & 7 : Off days for CHIN 111 participants who need to attend UM Orientation Session (for fall)  (important: those who can are strongly encouraged to go earlier. See our UM Orientation section)
  • Monday, 6/27 : CHIN 111 Exam Day
  • Tues. & Wed., 6/28-29 : No Class (important: do not plan a trip for these dates.  Almost all students will need these days to rest and recharge.  Some will need these days to catch up and review in order to continue successfully into CHIN 112.  It is far better to make tentative plans that can easily be canceled.)
  • Wednesday, 6/29 : Dorm Move-In for those starting in CHIN 112 (More info on UM Summer Housing page )
  • Thursday, 6/30 : CHIN 112 Starts (first day of Second Summer Session)
  • Thursday, July 28 : CHIN 112 Exam Day
  • Friday, July 29 : Proficiency Exam Day (Speaking, Listening & Reading)
  • **Exams typically finish late in the afternoon.  We prefer that you schedule your departure for the following day in case exams take longer than expected, or in case you don’t get enough sleep the previous night (you’ll probably be excited with your final exams behind you, even if you still have to take proficiency exams) and would put yourself at risk to drive, even as far as the airport.
  • Saturday, July 30 [10:00am] : Summer Dormitory Move-Out Date:  (More info on UM Summer Housing page )
  • ~3 WEEK BREAK (Students must move out of their summer dorms.)
  • Late August : Fall Dormitory Move-In: dates depend on residence (More info on UM Move-In Page)
  • Note: you may be prompted to come earlier for special program orientations, such as Honors College or the Croft Institute
  • Monday, August 22 : First Day of Fall Semester

Be sure to look over other dates related to registration and any other administrative responsibilities.
